Key Provisions Dropped From Controversial Timber Sale
Washington Wild led efforts by conservation and recreation organizations in raising concerns about the Hansen Creek timber sale proposed by the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest adjacent to the recently designated Alpine Lakes Wilderness additions. Proposals for a naturally regenerated 120-year old stand for thinning and the use of a popular hiking trail (Ira Spring Trail) as a haul road were dropped as a result of two comment letters coordinated by Washington Wild.
