The Next Administration: What’s in Store for Washington’s Lands & Waters
March 13, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Free
Our Program will begin at 6:30 pm in the Naked City screening room and Naked City will also be hosting a Brewshed Happy Hour! They will donate a $1 a pint from 5 – 9 so come join us for a pint and discuss upcoming threats to keeping Washington Wild.
As 2017 began, within days it became clear that wild places on federal lands were going to be attacked on two fronts. The new Republican led Congress wasted little time in targeting regulations and facilitating legislative strategy to weaken protections for or dispose of federal lands. The Trump administration has also signaled that the next four years will require vigilance and sustained advocacy if we are to keep existing protections for our wild lands and waters.
Join us on Monday, March 13th at Naked City Brewery & Taphouse for “The Next Administration: What’s in Store for Washington’s Wild Lands and Waters.” Our Executive Director, previously Washington Wild’s Conservation Director for 13 years, will discuss what to expect for our state from the new administration and Congress.
On their FIRST day the newly elected U.S. House of Representatives passed a controversial provision (H.R. 5) changing the way Congress calculates the costs and economic value of federal parks, forests and national wildlife refuges. The provision in essence implies our public lands have no intrinsic or economic value and paves the way for transferring or selling off our public lands to the highest bidder. Learn more about some of the other current threats here and explore our Take Action page for opportunities to exercise your voice.
Come learn what YOU can do to keep Washington Wild.
