50 Brewing Businesses Want to Save the Snake River

The Issue

The four Lower Snake River Dams have been driving salmon toward extinction for decades. It’s time to #freethesnake and protect this keystone species while balancing the needs of nearby communities and Tribes.

In October 2021, Governor Inslee and Senator Patty Murray began a joint federal-state process to determine whether it is possible to replace the services and benefits provided by the lower Snake River dams to support breaching as part of a salmon recovery strategy for the Snake River and the Pacific Northwest.

After consulting with Tribes, stakeholders, scientists, and the public, they have released a 100+ page final report that shows replacing the benefits is possible, and that breaching the dams provides the best path forward for salmon recovery.

It’s time to act swiftly to begin replacing and mitigating the benefits provided by the aging dams so that we can move forward with breaching as soon as possible.

What You Can Do

Tell your U.S. House Representatives you support Sen. Murray and Gov. Inslee’s plan to move forward with replacing the benefits of the four Lower Snake River dams as a prerequisite to breaching to restore the Snake River for salmon, communities, and Tribes.
