We’re excited to share that after a short delay, Upstream IPA, our benefit beer with Big Time Brewery, was released last week!

We marked the occasion with a virtual tasting event on December 22, hosted by Kendall Jones of the Washington Beer Blog. Kendall spoke with Big Time brothers Rick and Roy — owner and head brewer, respectively — and Washington Wild’s Brewshed® Manager Chris Chappell.

Great beer starts upstream. Upstream IPA highlights the interconnectedness of our waterways in Washington State. Here in Seattle, we depend on fresh mountain water that flows down from the waterways of the Cascades.

We’re proud to brew this beer with malt that has been grown using Salmon-Safe® practices from Skagit Valley Malting and hops from Yakima Chief Hops, making for a super sustainable brew.

Thanks to the generous donations from Skagit Valley Malting and Yakima Chief Hops, 40% of Upstream IPA proceeds benefit the work of Washington Wild’s Brewshed Alliance, a program designed to connect the brewing and conservation communities in their shared interest of protecting our water sources.

For 40 years, Washington Wild has worked to protect and restore the wild lands and waters in Washington State through advocacy, education, and civic engagement.

So grab a can, raise it upstream, and know with every sip you’re showing your support for Washington’s waterways!
