Beer Fest is a HUGE Success!
The sun was out, the stage was set (complete with balloons), and the beer was flowing last Saturday for our 3rd Annual Brewshed® Beer Fest. And it was the best one yet! Over 250 people came out for a SOLD OUT event in support of a wild and green Washington full of great beer. With 16 different breweries in the room they had their choice of delicious brews to sample and support through their vote.
The sound of popping balloons bursts through the mingling crowd as guests step up to make a donation, pop a balloon, and win some awesome swag! Almost $1,000 was raised launching our revival of the Alpine Lakes Pale Challenge! This charity beer will be re-released on Thursday, July 7th at the West Seattle Elliott Bay Brewing Company.
This year’s Brewshed Beer Fest raised over $7,000 in support of Washington’s wild lands and waters, such as those that would be protected by the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Additions and the Wild Olympics Campaign. Saturday marked the one year anniversary of the introduction of the Wild Olympics Proposal to Congress by (see press release language). Since then the bill had its first EVER hearing in the Senate and is continuing to move forward in Congress.
If passed this bill would permanently protect over 126,000 acres of new Wilderness and over 460 miles of Wild and Scenic Rivers. That would almost triple the number of Wild & Scenic Rivers in Washington State!
But we weren’t just celebrating wild lands and waters, we were also celebrating delicious Washington Beer. With nearly 40 beers in the running the competition for Best in the Brewshed was high. Just after 4:15 with great suspense in the air the following winners were announced to great applause:

1st Place Best in the Brewshed: Hale’s Ales – ‘Shed Stout

2nd Place Best in the Brewshed: Icicle Brewing Company – Dark Persuasion

3rd Place Best in the Brewshed: NW Peaks Brewery – Ingalls Ginger
Thank you to everyone that came out in support of this year’s Brewshed Beer Fest- brewers, volunteers, and guests alike! All of you helped make this event a HUGE success! A special thank you to our sponsors, Watershed Pub & Kitchen and Latona Pub for their continued support of Washington Wild and the Brewshed Alliance.
Make sure to join us at the re-release of the Alpine Lakes Pale at the West Seattle Elliott Bay Brewing Company on July Seventh! Check out the Alpine Lakes Pale Challenge to make a donate and enter to win some awesome swag, including an assorted case of Icicle Brewing Company beers (including the 2nd place winner – the Dark Persuasion)!
